Kenyans Told Why Raila Might be Desperate For Kalonzo’s Support
Mt Kenya politicians have continued to defect to DP William Ruto’s camp including Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru.
This has brought to light how substantial the input of Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka might be in former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s state house bid.
It’s hard to predict how Uhuru’s turf will vote in the forthcoming elections, however, Kalonzo backing Raila’s 2022 bid might help build a fortified force against Deputy President William Ruto.
However, the entry of Kalonzo in Raila’s team might mean a dilemma on how to balance between Kalonzo and the Mt Kenya Leaders.
According to reports, Raila falling out with the Wiper boss might pronounce a threat to the 1.2 million votes he garnered in Ukambani in the 2013 and 2017 elections.
Political commentators continue to argue that Kalonzo is one of the politicians whose presence can’t be overlooked.
According to Dr Charles Nyambuga,attached at Maseno University, Kalonzo might help Raila’s presidential bid, however, the Mt Kenya votes are more important in comparison to the Ukambani votes.
Raila getting a running mate from Uhuru’s backyard as well as having Kalonzo in his political wing would mean an easy win on his side. In other words, should Kalonzo declare his support for DP Ruto, then the second in command would most likely enjoy the 1.2 million votes from the Ukambani
Prof Naituli understand that the ex-Vice President controls a massive chunk of Kamba votes, in that breathe, Raila might be desperate to have Kalonzo in his political camp as this would help him concentrate more on winning the Mt Kenya votes
