Ahead of 2022: What Options the Kamba Community has.
Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has asked the Kamba Community to be realistic in deciding whom to support for the presidency in the forthcoming general elections in 2022.
The Governor was responding to a request by Mwingi Central MP to work together to support Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka in his bid for the presidency.
However, the Governor and the MP agreed to work together to lock UDA out of Kitui County and Ukambani region as a whole, and proposed to have a meeting of all leaders of the County to decide the way to go.
Dr. Mulyungi was leading a delegation of Mwingi professionals and business people in a meeting with the Governor to discuss matters development in the region.
On matters growth, the meeting agreed to accelerate the operationalization of Mwingi Municipality,which Governor Ngilu granted a charter in 2019.
The professionals requested the Governor to allow for input from local leadership in selecting the membership of the Municipal Board.
The MP further asked the Senator of Kitui County to stop misleading the people through his proposed bill in the national assembly.
The Governor promised to consult with the Speaker with the leadership of the County Assembly to see that some of the County Assembly sittings and committees can be held in Mwingi, so that citizens from the vast region can also access the Decision making processes in the County Government.
The Governor said she was going to put more resources to address shortages of water in the Municipality.
The MP appreciated the Governors historical role in transforming development and leadership in the Ukambani region,and lauded her for the many institutions that she has initiated in Kitui County.
Hon Mulyungi and Governor Ngilu agreed to partner in implementation of Universal Health Coverage, where the MP will meet 50% contribution for vulnerable households to enroll for NHIF while the County Government meets 50%.
