Residents of Mutitu/Kaliku Ward in Kitui East Sub-County are the latest beneficiaries of Governor Charity Ngilu’s ambitious empowerment program for the great people of Kitui.
As part of the ongoing distribution of empowerment fund cheques across the county, dozens of groups of women, youth, PLWDs and bodaboda operators from the Ward today welcomed cheques worth Sh.1,230,000.
The beneficiary groups were drawn from the various villages including Itiko/Kyaimu, Kitoo, Musukini, Manyoeni, Masasini and Kawala/Kavutei, among others.
Trade Chief Officer and Director, Fernandes Mbindu and Fidelis Mwaniki respectively, led the exercise in conjunction with Assistant Director for Civic Education Shadrack Musyoki. Area Ward Rep Annastacia Mwathi also joined the county executive delegation.
The retinue also presided over the official commissioning of Kaliku market led by Director Mwaniki who represented the county chief in the brief but solemn ceremony.
The team took the opportunity to sell to the residents the Azimio La Umoja agenda and drummed up support for the grand coalition’s presidential flag-bearer Raila Odinga in his quest to become Kenya’s fifth president.
The locals thanked and praised Governor Ngilu for her spirited endeavor to uplift their livelihoods though the empowerment program besides her other initiatives aimed at putting money into people’s pockets.
The elated wananchi affirmed their solid support for the Governor’s bid to defend her seat in the August 9 General Election in order to allow her more time to exhaustively deliver on her ambitious development agenda.
